Over two months ago, VancouverMom.ca launched As A Mother, a series of eight documentary shorts. These episodes shine a light on the craziness of the past two years - but through the lens of Vancouver moms. Thousands of people have watched these digital shorts - and it’s even been featured in the media, including CBC Radio here in Vancouver.
It’s safe to say that the episodes weren’t what people expected. It’s not the usual “mom fare” - whatever that means.
And now it’s available as a podcast.
The series includes pivots, stories of resilience, tears, shocking realities - and ultimately moments of triumph, resilience, grit and love. We cover topics of systemic racism. The survival of art. Decolonization. The mental load moms bear. And all the things we juggle.
Join Christine Pilkington, publisher of VancouverMom.ca. We’ll goes behind the scenes of these women’s journeys. We dig deeper into the role Vancouver plays in these stories. We’ll celebrate their successes. And learn from their challenges.
VancouverMom.ca’s As A Mother is a digital short film and podcast series, partially funded by a Government of Canada Heritage grant. This grant supports communities through arts and heritage. All videos and podcasts are thoughtfully filmed, recorded and produced by Kahani Pictures.
